What You’ll Learn
By the end of the session, you’ll be able to:
* Explain why food exports carry extra requirements on top of standard customs procedures
* Categorise your products by risk: products of animal origin, composite products, high-risk food not of animal origin, and other food
* Identify which certificates apply, including Export Health Certificates, phytosanitary certificates, catch certificates and private attestations
* Understand the three requirements for animal product exports — country listing, establishment approval and certification
* Navigate the EU export process, including Border Control Posts and pre-notification
* Apply the different requirements for exporting to non-EU markets and to Northern Ireland
* Recognise the customs and tariff considerations specific to food, including classification and tariff rate quotas
* Maintain compliance through correct labelling, packaging and traceability records
You’ll leave knowing which certificates your products need, how the requirements differ between markets, and how to avoid the border delays and rejected consignments that catch out unprepared exporters.
