About Us
Our History
We are passionate about international trade, and this passion led to the founding of Exporter Services in 2009 by Sue Wright.
Since then, we have steadily grown, and as a result, our team has become more experienced and adaptable. Today, we offer a wide range of comprehensive import and export services, alongside accredited training in International Trade.
Our Team
Sue Wright, Managing Director, FIEx (Grad)
Sue is the Founder of Exporter Services and the driving force behind the business.
She developed her extensive experience by managing International Trade for engineering and manufacturing companies, where she was responsible for ensuring HMRC compliance, coordinating multiple parties across borders, and handling the many practical details involved in International shipments. Building on both her professional expertise and postgraduate study in International Trade, Sue established Exporter Services in 2017 with a clear aim: to provide trusted, reliable support to businesses trading internationally.
Delivering training in International Trade was Sue’s first passion, and she continues to enjoy helping people understand the world of importing and exporting with confidence. Through her work in training, Sue recognised a growing need for tailored support, particularly for SMEs that required more hands on, technical guidance as part of their day to day operations. As a result, the Exporter Services Helpdesk was created, offering practical advice and support whenever it is needed.
More recently, Sue has led the development of the company’s International Trade Audits and Compliance Checks, helping businesses strengthen processes, improve compliance, and identify areas where systems could be made more efficient. Sue feels strongly about the value of this work, explaining:
“Many businesses do not realise that improvements to their systems and procedures can lead to both stronger compliance and meaningful cost savings. Often, it is a matter of reviewing what is already in place and making a few key changes.”
Sue believes that although International Trade can sometimes feel complex, it becomes far more manageable with clear guidance and the right support.
“I have always enjoyed helping people with importing and exporting. At first, many clients understandably worry about procedures and regulations, but being able to explain it clearly and seeing their confidence grow is something I find genuinely rewarding.”
Sarah Cutts, Operations Director
Sarah is the Operations Director at Exporter Services, with over 11 years’ experience delivering dependable export and shipping support for businesses operating globally. Having started at the very bottom of the business and progressing year on year into leadership, Sarah has built a full end-to-end understanding of export operations — and what it takes to keep shipments moving smoothly, compliantly, and on time.
Sarah leads the operational delivery of Exporter Services, supporting both new and long-standing customers with their day-to-day shipping requirements and more complex export challenges. She is known for her calm, confident approach and for being a reliable point of contact when timelines are tight and accuracy matters.
Dangerous Goods (DG) trained, Sarah supports regulated and specialist shipments where compliance, documentation and attention to detail are critical. She also works closely alongside Amanda and the wider team to support customers with export licence requirements, ensuring the right information is captured, processes are followed correctly, and customers feel fully supported from start to finish.
Driven, practical, and people-focused, Sarah is committed to delivering high standards across every shipment and every customer relationship. Clients value her direct communication style, strong operational knowledge, and her ability to take ownership and get things done.
Sarah’s approach:
“I’ve worked my way up through every level of export operations, so I know what it takes to get it right. My focus is simple — clear communication, strong processes, and making sure every customer feels supported from start to finish.”
Amanda ten Bruggencate, Operations Manager, MIEx (Grad)
Amanda is the Operations Manager at Exporter Services, managing one of our operational teams and delivering reliable export support for a wide range of clients. With over 17 years of experience in International Trade, she plays a key role in ensuring customers receive accurate documentation, consistent service, and practical guidance that keeps exports moving smoothly and compliantly. She is known for her calm, methodical approach and her unwavering attention to detail.
Amanda supports clients across a range of industries by providing an outsourced shipping function, helping businesses manage export activity efficiently and with confidence. She also supports customers with export licence requirements, working closely with internal teams and client contacts to capture the correct product and end use information, support compliance checks, and ensure the right steps are followed when a licence is needed.
Amanda is passionate about developing her team and takes pride in helping people build expertise within International Trade. As she explains:
“I enjoy working with each team member to develop their skills. The variety of companies we work with makes each day different and interesting. For example, we deal with diverse products, from pharmaceuticals to packaging. Each submission is bespoke for that product and client.”
Amanda began her career in International Trade at BAE Systems, joining their shipping department straight from school. She built her knowledge through hands on experience and industry training, completing qualifications that enabled her to support the processing of Dangerous Goods for transport and strengthening her technical understanding of regulated export procedures.
She also has strong expertise in Letters of Credit, supporting customers through complex documentary requirements that sit between banking rules and trade regulations. Amanda explains:
“I do a lot of work on Letters of Credit. These are complex documents that deal with banking and trade regulations. Ultimately, they help companies trade internationally with confidence. I find it satisfying when we put a Letter of Credit into a bank and the payment comes through seamlessly.”
Amanda joined Exporter Services in 2017 and is valued for the high standards she brings to every client relationship. Whether supporting a time sensitive shipment, managing documentary requirements, or assisting with export licence information, Amanda ensures customers feel informed, supported, and confident in the process.
Amanda’s approach:
“Export licensing can feel daunting for businesses, but it doesn’t need to be. If we gather the right technical and end use information upfront, the process becomes much more straightforward and far less disruptive for the customer.”
James Tudor, Training Manager
James joined Exporter Services three years ago and has had an amazing impact on our training programme. Since then, he has contributed significantly to its growth and success.
With a strong education background, including over ten years’ experience as a teacher, James has enjoyed the change from teaching secondary pupils to training people about international trade. In fact, this shift has allowed him to apply his teaching skills in a new and exciting way.
James explains, “The courses themselves are really practical and cover what people need to know. Furthermore, our training can also provide people with the opportunity to complete the British Chambers of Commerce Foundation Award in International Trade via an assessment after the courses.”
The variety of training topics and regular updates to the requirements for international trade keep James on his toes. Additionally, he particularly enjoys teaching the Incoterms and Commodity Code Courses. This variety keeps the role both challenging and rewarding.
“It’s really rewarding to be able to help people learn the right processes for their export and import,” says James. “They often think that they may have a few issues, and during the training, you can see the lightbulb moments when they realise how to put those problems right. This, in turn, is great for them and their business.”
Marie McIntosh, Operations Manager
Marie brings a broad and well rounded skill set to Exporter Services, combining technical expertise, commercial awareness, and a strong people first approach. With a background in travel and tourism, she developed the ability to manage complex logistics under pressure, skills that continue to underpin her work in International Trade.
She has built a deep, practical understanding of customs compliance and global trade regulations, supported by her Level 3 Certification in Customs Compliance UK. Marie has a particular interest in tariffs and technical detail, taking the time to fully understand the complexities so she can confidently guide customers through challenging requirements.
“I enjoy challenging myself,” says Marie. “I like exploring the detail, especially around tariffs and technical areas, because it means I can give clear, confident advice and genuinely support our customers.”
Alongside her technical role, Marie plays a key part in driving business growth and visibility. She leads on marketing activity, focusing on social media, website updates, and promoting Exporter Services to new audiences. With a strong instinct for when and where the business needs to be seen, she helps ensure the company stays relevant, visible, and competitive.
At the heart of Marie’s role is her passion for people. A natural people person, she believes the strength of the business lies in its team. She enjoys being a trusted point of contact for staff, encouraging open conversations and supporting individuals when challenges arise. Creating a positive, supportive environment is a priority, and she is committed to ensuring a healthy work life balance where people feel valued, listened to, and motivated.
“I love seeing the team thrive,” Marie explains. “When people feel supported and happy, they perform at their best and that benefits everyone.”
Marie believes customers feel this culture too.
“Our customers value not only the expertise we offer, but the care and dedication behind it. Together, that is what creates lasting relationships and real impact.”
